King Lear

Our Adaptation: A tyrant king for whom compliments are currency. Three daughters eager for their turn to lead. Our adaptation of King Lear focuses on social tension and resentment between generations of young and old during a transition of power and explores what happens when the adults in the room aren’t behaving like adults. Inspired in part by Kendrick Lamar’s 2015 album, To Pimp a Butterfly, as well as the results of the 2016 presidential election, our adaptation shows the danger of ego and pride, and the value of self-love.
